A good Cotton shirt is one of those pieces that sounds simple until you actually try to find the right one.
Too rigid and you spend the day pulling at it.
Too loose and it loses the shape you wanted.
Too fitted and it becomes uncomfortable.
And even when two shirts look similar on a hanger, the fabric they are made from can completely change how they feel and how they behave when you wear them.
At No2moro, Cotton has been part of our Foundations for more than 15 years.
But not every Cotton shirt in the collection is designed to do the same job.
Izzy, Daisy and Wilde are made from our Jersey Cotton. Una uses Poplin Cotton.
That distinction matters because Jersey and Poplin behave differently, and the construction of each style changes how that fabric works in your wardrobe.
So if you know you want a No2moro Cotton shirt but aren't sure where to begin, the first question isn't simply:
Which style do I like?
It is:
How do I want my Cotton shirt to feel, fit and work within my wardrobe?
First: Jersey Cotton vs Poplin Cotton
Before comparing the individual shirts, it helps to understand one of the biggest differences within the range.
Cotton is not one single type of fabric.
The way the fabric is constructed changes its hand-feel, movement, structure and ultimately how the finished garment behaves.
That is particularly clear when comparing our Jersey Cotton shirts with Una in Poplin Cotton.
Jersey Cotton
Izzy, Daisy and Wilde use our Jersey Cotton.
Jersey is a knitted Cotton construction rather than the more traditional woven construction you might associate with a crisp shirt.
That gives it greater natural flexibility and a softer, more forgiving feel against the body.
For everyday wear, that matters.
The fabric moves more easily and feels comfortable through a full day rather than creating the rigidity some people associate with conventional Cotton shirts.
It makes Jersey Cotton particularly suited to the pieces we expect customers to wear repeatedly, layer often and move comfortably in.
That is why it works so well across Izzy, Daisy and Wilde, even though each shirt has a different role.
Poplin Cotton
Una uses Poplin Cotton.
Poplin is a woven Cotton with a crisper, smoother and more structured character.
That creates a different kind of shirt.
Where Jersey Cotton has more natural give and softness, Poplin creates a cleaner and slightly smarter finish.
That makes it particularly suited to Una, where the front shaping seams and back darts are part of the design.
The fabric allows those details to hold their shape and gives the shirt a more tailored appearance.
Neither Cotton is better.
They are simply designed to achieve different things.
Choose Jersey Cotton when softness, flexibility and everyday ease are your priority.
Choose Poplin Cotton when you prefer a crisper, more structured shirt.
That distinction alone may already tell you which direction to go.
Why We Use More Than One Cotton
At No2moro, fabric choice always starts with the job we want the finished garment to do.
We don't choose Cotton simply because “Cotton is good”.
We look at how it feels, how it moves, what shape it can create and how the customer is actually going to wear it.
That is why Izzy, Daisy and Wilde all belong in Jersey Cotton.
The softer, more flexible construction suits their role as everyday shirts that need to move comfortably with the body.
But the design of each one changes how that same fabric works.
Izzy gives you the classic.
Daisy simplifies it.
Wilde takes the same Jersey Cotton into a shirt designed specifically with layering in mind.
Una belongs in Poplin because its more shaped construction benefits from additional crispness and structure.
Four Cotton shirts.
Two Cotton constructions.
Four different reasons to exist.
Choose Izzy If You Want the No2moro Classic
Izzy is our bestselling Cotton shirt and one of the pieces customers have returned to for years.
It is the all-rounder.
Made from our Jersey Cotton, Izzy combines the familiar look of a classic shirt with a softer, more flexible feel.
Ribbed stretch panels beneath the arms and along the side seams give additional movement while helping the shirt maintain its shape.
The front is finished with two patch pockets, which have become one of Izzy's recognisable design details.
It has a fully functional button front, stretch cuffs and a back yoke.
At approximately 65cm in length, Izzy provides enough coverage to wear loose while remaining easy to tuck into trousers or denim.
Izzy is likely to suit you if:
You want the classic No2moro Cotton shirt.
You prefer the softer, more flexible feel of Jersey Cotton.
You like traditional front patch pockets.
You want a shirt that moves easily between work, weekends and everyday dressing.
You wear shirts both tucked in and loose.
You want a dependable first Cotton shirt that works with a large part of your wardrobe.
Izzy isn't designed around one particular outfit.
That is its strength.
It is the shirt you can keep coming back to.
Choose Daisy If You Love Izzy but Prefer a Cleaner Front
Daisy is the closest relative to Izzy within the collection.
It uses the same Jersey Cotton, so you get that same balance of softness, structure and comfortable flexibility.
It also uses ribbed stretch panels beneath the arms and along the side seams and has the same approximately 65cm length.
So what changes?
The pockets disappear.
Daisy removes Izzy's two front patch pockets to create a cleaner, more understated front.
It may seem like a relatively small design change, but visually it makes the two shirts feel quite different.
Without the pockets, Daisy feels more minimal and allows the Cotton and shape of the shirt itself to take centre stage.
Daisy is likely to suit you if:
You like the fit and Jersey Cotton feel of Izzy but prefer fewer details.
You want a clean, pocket-free shirt front.
You tend towards simpler or more minimal outfits.
You regularly wear shirts underneath jackets or knitwear.
You want the versatility of Izzy with a quieter finish.
If you are choosing specifically between Izzy and Daisy, the decision can be remarkably simple:
Izzy gives you the pockets. Daisy gives you the clean front.
The fabric and overall philosophy remain closely related.
Choose Una If You Prefer a Crisper, More Shaped Shirt
Una is where the Cotton story changes.
Unlike the Jersey Cotton used for Izzy, Daisy and Wilde, Una is made from Poplin Cotton.
That gives it a crisper and more structured feel.
And that fabric choice works with the way Una itself is designed.
Carefully positioned front seams and back darts create additional shape through the body, giving Una a more defined silhouette than Izzy or Daisy.
The collar is also different.
Una has a lower convertible collar and five-button placket, giving the neckline a cleaner and slightly less traditional appearance than a classic full-button shirt.
At approximately 62cm, it is also shorter than Izzy and Daisy.
That makes Una particularly useful if you prefer less fabric through the lower body or regularly tuck your shirts into trousers.
Una is likely to suit you if:
You prefer a crisper Poplin Cotton.
You like a more shaped shirt silhouette.
You want tailoring and definition through the body.
You regularly wear shirts with smarter trousers or beneath jackets.
You prefer a slightly shorter shirt.
You want something that feels more structured than Jersey Cotton.
Una isn't simply a more fitted version of Izzy or Daisy.
The fabric itself changes the character of the shirt.
That is why comparing the Cotton is just as important as comparing the design.
Choose Wilde If Layering Is the Priority
Wilde uses the same Jersey Cotton family as Izzy and Daisy, but its purpose is quite different.
It was designed specifically as a Cotton layering shirt.
That makes Wilde particularly useful for customers who like the softer, more natural feel of Jersey Cotton but want a shirt that has been designed around being worn beneath knitwear, jackets and other layers.
A half-button placket differentiates it from Izzy and Daisy, while ribbed stretch panels beneath the arms provide additional movement.
Button detailing at the ribbed cuffs gives another point of difference.
At approximately 63cm, Wilde sits between Una and Izzy/Daisy in length.
Wilde is likely to suit you if:
You prefer Jersey Cotton but want a shirt specifically suited to layering.
You like wearing collared shirts beneath knitwear.
You prefer Cotton to the smoother, closer fit of Glide.
You want a half placket rather than a traditional full button front.
You want a shirt that can work independently but whose real strength is how easily it integrates into layered outfits.
This is the key difference:
Izzy and Daisy use Jersey Cotton for versatile everyday shirting.
Wilde uses Jersey Cotton with layering as its central purpose.
The fabric may be related.
The job is different.

Start With the Fabric
If you're new to the Cotton collection, this is where we'd suggest beginning.
Ask yourself:
Do I like my Cotton soft and flexible, or crisp and structured?
If the answer is soft and flexible, you are looking at our Jersey Cotton styles:
Izzy, Daisy or Wilde.
Then ask what job you need the shirt to do.
Want the classic? Izzy.
Want the cleaner front? Daisy.
Want a Jersey Cotton shirt designed specifically for layering? Wilde.
If you prefer crispness and shape, Una is the natural place to look.
That gives you a much clearer decision tree:
Jersey Cotton
→ Izzy for the classic
→ Daisy for simplicity
→ Wilde for layering
Poplin Cotton
→ Una for structure and shape
Once you know what you want the fabric to do, choosing the style becomes much easier.
Think About the Clothes You Already Own
The next question is not:
Which shirt looks best on its own?
It is:
Which shirt will work hardest in my wardrobe?
Look at what you already wear.
If denim and relaxed trousers form most of your wardrobe, the everyday flexibility of Izzy or Daisy may suit how you dress.
If you wear tailored trousers and jackets frequently, Una's Poplin construction and shaped silhouette may feel more natural.
If knitwear, gilets and layered outfits dominate your wardrobe, Wilde has been designed specifically around that use.
And then think about whether you tuck your shirts in.
Izzy and Daisy give you a little more length and versatility between tucked and untucked styling.
Una's shorter 62cm length works particularly well when you prefer less fabric at the waist.
Wilde's 63cm length keeps enough shirt visible for layering without creating unnecessary excess.
The wardrobe you already own will usually tell you which shirt you need.
Why Fabric Matters More Than Customers Sometimes Realise
We spend a lot of time discussing silhouette.
But two shirts can behave completely differently if the fabric changes.
Jersey Cotton has more flexibility and softness.
Poplin has more crispness and structure.
A smooth stretch fabric such as Glide behaves differently again.
That affects:
how the shirt falls,
how much it moves,
how it feels after several hours,
how easily another garment sits over it,
and how structured the finished outfit appears.
Understanding fabric means you become better at choosing clothes for how you actually dress, rather than simply choosing by appearance.
That is one of the reasons we have built our Foundations around distinct fabric families rather than trying to make one fabric solve every wardrobe problem.
A Cotton Shirt Should Earn Its Place
We spoke recently about cost per wear and why the clothes you use most frequently can often deliver the greatest value.
A good Cotton shirt is a perfect example.
Its value isn't in saving it for the right occasion.
It comes from using it.
With denim one day.
With trousers the next.
Open over a base layer.
Under a jacket.
Beneath knitwear.
Then washing it and bringing it back into rotation.
This is why quality matters particularly strongly in Foundations.
The pieces you wear repeatedly need to withstand repeated wear.
What About a Glide Layering Shirt?
Wilde also creates an important bridge into another part of the No2moro wardrobe.
If you want a collared layering shirt but aren't sure whether you want Cotton or Glide, the difference starts with feel.
Wilde gives you the softer, more natural character of Jersey Cotton.
Anna gives you our smooth, figure-hugging four-way stretch Glide fabric, designed specifically to minimise bulk underneath other garments.
Both can create the collar-and-cuff layering look.
They simply get there in different ways.
If smoothness and minimum bulk are your priority, Glide may suit you.
If Jersey Cotton feels more natural to you, Wilde gives you that alternative.
Still unsure whether Cotton or Glide is the better Foundation for you? Our No2moro Layering Guide compares the different fabrics, fits and layering shapes across the collection.
Which Should Be My First No2moro Cotton Shirt?
If you want the most straightforward answer:
Izzy is the classic.
It is our bestselling Cotton shirt and an excellent introduction to the range.
But that doesn't mean it should automatically be everyone's first choice.
If you know you dislike pockets, Daisy already makes more sense.
If you love crisp Poplin and prefer a shaped shirt, go directly to Una.
And if the main reason you're looking at No2moro is because you want to build layered outfits, Wilde could be the most useful first purchase of all.
The aim isn't to buy the bestseller.
It is to buy the one you will wear.
Four Shirts. Two Cottons. Four Different Jobs.
We don't believe in producing endless variations simply to create the appearance of choice.
Each style should solve something different.
Izzy gives you the Jersey Cotton classic.
Daisy gives you the same Jersey Cotton philosophy with a cleaner front.
Wilde gives you Jersey Cotton designed around layering.
Una gives you crisp Poplin and more shape.
Those distinctions matter.
Because finding the right shirt isn't only about choosing the neckline, pockets or length.
It starts with understanding the fabric.
And when the fabric, fit and purpose all suit the way you actually dress, that is when a shirt stops being another item in the wardrobe and becomes one of its Foundations.
